Hopi Village-Arizona by George Porter after Thomas Moran

Hopi Village-Arizona, acrylic on canvas, 30" X 48", by George Porter after Thomas Moran features a breathtaking view of the desert cliffs and rocks of the Hopi Mesa in Arizona, painted in the luminist style of the Hudson River School. Using a desert palette of Chroma Atelier Interactive Artists Acrylics, George Porter captures the glowing light in the desert sky, in the rocks in the cliff face, and in the mesa in bright warm colors. His use of contrasting blues, greens and purples in the foreground and river elevates this stunning landscape to a masterpiece in color composition. Hidden in the shapes of rocks are symbolic images of a bird with prey, a coyote, a dog, and an eel. This painting is available for purchase in the online Shop. Andy in the Mountains after Albert Bierstadt
Andy in the Mountains after Albert Bierstadt

Fine artist George Porter created Andy in the Mountains as a study of Albert Bierstadt's famous In the Mountains. A gift for his daughter, it was painted in loving memory of Andy Andy Bo Bandy, her chestnut thoroughbred gelding and eventing champion, who died tragically on May 21, 2014. On the far shore you can see the artist's daughter on Andy watching, dressed for a dressage event, as Andy now leaves this world, galloping wild and free in the right foreground. Behind him, his grandfather, Seattle Slew, can be seen in the rocks watching over the newborn foal. Patiently waiting in the light-filled clouds above, a heavenly Andy waits for the artist's daughter who will always and forever be his "person". Andy you were magnificent and you are missed every day.

amy's colors, an original acrylic painting by George Porter was created in memory of Amy Wagner, a gifted artist and dear friend who contracted cancer of the spine in 2009 and valiantly fought the disease that left her paralyzed from the neck down for four years. Throughout her ordeal she remained a source of inspiration for friends and family, gradually learning to paint again using only her mouth and a mouthstick.

Like Amy's paintings, which were filled with rich, vibrant colors, George Porter chose bright vivid colors for his memorial painting of Amy. It is full of symbolism and a reflection of his deep-felt love and appreciation of Amy and her artworkamy's colors was gifted to James Wagner, Amy's husband, and their two young sons where it remains in their private collection.
