Creating "White Rabbit"

Creating "White Rabbit"

SIGNED, SEALED AND DELIVERED: White Rabbit, 36" X 48", acrylic on canvas, a new commissioned painting by Lake Oswego fine artist George Porter of George Porter Fine Art.

White Rabbit is the artist's first allegory, a painting that explores modern sociological issues and stereotypes through classical literature. Drawing on C.S. Lewis's "Alice in Wonderland", the painting depicts a group of Hells Angels having a tea party that is about to be busted by the police in front of a building that displays two murals: one of the modern day Berlin Wall where the Dancing to Freedom banner is being sucked away by SWAT Team members. The Cheshire Cat, another fantasy character from Alice in Wonderland tips his head. The Queen of Hearts' live croquet racquet, a pink flamingo, disposes of the heads of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum in the lower right. The stopwatch with hands showing time running backwards announces that we are late. And little Alice, a reproduction of the original drawing by C.S. Lewis, gazes up in amazement and wonder at the lady on the motorcycle. The details in this acrylic painting are amazing! The social commentary and symbolism have been beautifully crafted by the artist.

“When the good guys become the bad guys, and stereotype outlaws are, in fact, the innocents, time does indeed go backwards, reminding us that a police state leads to fascism, whether you live in Wonderland or America. In this fantasy turned nightmare, as the tyrant yells “Off with their heads!”, we suddenly realize that our very liberties are at stake in this upside down world, where down is up and wrong is right.” ~ George Porter

The original commissioned painting is now in a private collection  and is not for sale; however, a limited edition fine art print of White Rabbit is available for purchase in the artist's online shop. For more information about the original painting and the canvas print please contact George Porter.
